About ITI
ITI had it's beginnings in 1991 when a group of seasoned IT trainers began looking at ways to deliver more value in business training. We aimed for a new approach to training that aligned with fundamental business objectives.
Training on any application was like "drinking water from a fire hose." Trainees looking for specific functionality had to sit through hours of irrelevant instruction to get to the nuggets they could actually use. A typical training course was 6 hours of largely non-applicable information.
That's when we developed our popular "Power in an Hour" series to focus on specific tasks. The customer could see from the title whether or not the course applied to their need.
At this time, ITI also saw that training results were not meeting expectations. As trainers, our typical approach was to develop a course, deliver the training and say goodbye to the student, never to see them again. Two weeks later, when the information was needed by the customer, the training had lost its impact and value. It simply wasn't working.
So ITI began to deliver Just in Time training; training that pertains to a specific need. We started working with our customers delivering consultative training wrapped around the customer's own personal work. Suddenly, we saw productivity levels rising dramatically. The premise was this: Customers learn better, faster and deeper when the context for instruction is based on their own specific job tasks.
Over time, because the trainers/coaches were working with their customers every day, they began injecting themselves into the process. Suddenly, the real needs of the customer became much more visible; and we had proactive solutions ready to address challenges before they became problems. It's worked like a charm.
Since, ITI has grown to include 70 dedicated, talented IT professionals, in three cities (Houston, Tulsa and Chicago). We are looking to expand with consultants in Los Angeles and Seattle in January 07.
